Hades by suntanna Hades by suntanna
Text says:
Though I walk through the valley of the Shadow of Death, I fear no evil, for I command the Shadows
Hades, God of the Underworld

Of course, that would be based off of Psalm 23.
This would be probably the most labour intensive piece I've done. I wanted to work with the actual myth of Hades, and not the vilification of him. Which is why the picture, while dark, is not bloody, gory, or in my opinion, overly evil. Because as far as gods went, he wasn't 'evil', simply feared. I changed the horse's head to wearing the Helm of Darkness, so the face is not a skull, just covered with one, which is also where the rams horns attach. In theory this was supposed to make Hades invisible, but of course, that simply wouldn't work for a manip :XD:

You know, you've inspired me to write a scene with this picture. Ha. Thanks. It's really appealing to my dark sensibilities.

It looks awesome! Both the horse and the background, very good. Especially the skull looks very well done and placed.

Thanks ^_^ The skull was a bit of a pain to get on right because of the angle (which made it tough to resize it to fit), but I'm very happy with how it all turned out ^_^

But it was worth it, right ;) It turned out great and it's great to see once again you did something a bit more difficult and complex.

Oh totally worth it lol. I love doing these more complex ones, building up my own background, that sort of stuff, definitely is a lot more work but it's a lot more satisfying in the end ^_^

Omg, I love the horns. It totally adds to the whole, respectful fear thing.
I think it turned out very well! The background is awesome, love the eroded look.

Me too, the horns are great-I definitely wanted him to have horns, but I didn't want him to have the kind of stereotypical unicorn horn in the middle of his forehead.
There was another manip I saw a while ago, I can't remember who did it, who had rams horns on the horse too, which was definitely subconscious inspiration. Too bad I can't remember who did it, or I'd send you over to take a look at the pic.

And yes, I love the background too, it just came together very nicely I think

How's that for a little bit of blowing my own horn? LOL

If you find it again, send me the link, lol.
And yep, it all came together rather well. :D

Indeed! It's a cool manip and it's the only other one i've seen with rams horns instead of a unicorn horn

Yep yep. How could Hades have a unicorn horn, lol? That is like...hypocritical. :D

LOL exactly! It just...wouldn't work. It'd be like making the picture pink with bunnies *shuddercringe*
