So, this one is infinitely better than the last one. Will probably submit this one as is to that contest unless someone points out a glaring error I've overlooked that I can't see...because I really do like this picture lol. And I got the river in this one ^_^ Alright so as before, the vulture one of Ares' sacred animals due to its affinity to battlefields. Mars, obviously, from the Roman name for Ares. I did my image more based upon the Greek myths for Ares, so a little more hot headed, rash, fight basically for the sake of fighting type Ares. Which is why I chose the horse I did instead of a Clydesdale or Andalusian, as they're heavier horses, their temperaments are known to be more mild, and stick more to the Roman Mars, who had more to do with honour and well, Roman war values instead of the Greeks. But have you tried instead of lightening up the edges darken them, by using the same texture? I don't know it's just like that black color always give... I don't know how to explain (my English isn't perfect)... but it gives something that makes the center of the image to "pop up".
What else to say... Well, IT'S GREAT!!!

But normally I'm partial to the black borders too, as i know what you mean-generally it focuses you on the center of the pictures and all. I need to do that a little bit more with some of my stuff, I used to put in a bunch of that dark border/texture to pop out the main object, but for some reason stopped...hmm
